Umerkote This evening, the Umerkote region experienced the effects of a Kalbaishakhi (summer thunderstorm), accompanied by intense thunder and lightning that caused panic among locals.
In Chhanchanbeda village under Khandah Panchayat of Umerkote block, two Coconut trees near the house of Lachha Gand were struck by lightning and caught fire. Witnessing this sudden incident, the family members left their house and took shelter in a neighboring home for safety.
After burning for some time, rainfall helped extinguish the fire naturally. Though the fire died out, a large crowd had gathered to witness the scene. Fortunately, no casualties or damage to human life or property were reported in the lightning strike.
