Ahmedabad,: The final rites of former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who lost his life in the Ahmedabad plane crash, were performed on Monday. He was given a final farewell in Rajkot.
On Monday, his mortal remains were handed over to his family. A chartered flight had carried his body to Rajkot. Under police security, his body was transported through various roads to reach Rajkot. There, it was kept for public homage for about an hour. Afterwards, the body was taken to the Ramnathpara cremation ground.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Union Minister C. R. Patil, and several other leaders visited Rupani’s residence. They paid their last respects and offered condolences.
The body was officially identified on Sunday after matching DNA samples. Following confirmation, his family was informed of the death.
On June 12, a tragic Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad claimed the lives of Vijay Rupani and 241 other passengers.
