Koraput ,25th Aug 2025: The 36th Foundation Day of Laxmipur College in Koraput district was observed on the college premises. This year, the celebration was marked as a Memorial Day, as the college’s founder president and former District Collector Pramod Patnaik passed away on June 3.
On this occasion, MLA Pabitra Sahu, former MP Jhina Hikaka, retired headmaster Madhab Karkara, former DWO Mohan Garada, retired lecturer Kishore Chandra Sahu, college governing body chairperson Girija Choudhury, joint chairperson Biju Muduli, along with teachers, staff, alumni, and students, offered floral tributes at the portrait of Late Shri Patnaik. Tributes were also paid to other members who had contributed to the college’s establishment but are no longer alive.
Unlike previous years, when the Foundation Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm, this year the event was observed solemnly as a Memorial Day.
Speakers highlighted Shri Patnaik’s immense contributions to the college and the region. Due to his efforts, the college was established in 1990, making higher education accessible to tribal and backward-class students of the remote Laxmipur block. Earlier, financial and geographical constraints prevented students from pursuing higher studies.
The establishment of this college enabled many students of Laxmipur to achieve higher education, secure prestigious positions across India, and become self-reliant.The program was conducted by lecturer Jagannath Rath.
