Brahmapur: Pritiraj Harichandan, the Law Minister of Odisha, announced that the financial assistance to the State Advocates’ Welfare Fund will be increased from Rs 10 crore to Rs 15 crore. This declaration has been warmly welcomed by Peetabas Panda, a member of the State Advocates’ Council.
On April 28, while attending the Madhubabu Jayanti and Lawyers’ Day program organized by the Orissa High Court Bar Association, Mr. Harichandan made this announcement. He also promised the formation of a Lawyers’ Academy by the government to enhance the skills of young lawyers, raise legal awareness, and provide training.
Furthermore, the minister pledged efforts to include lawyers under health insurance schemes. As a result, nearly 50,000 lawyers across the state are expected to benefit from these initiatives.
Mr. Panda stated in a press note that these demands had been raised by lawyers for a long time, but the previous Naveen government had not paid attention. Therefore, the Law Minister’s announcement is commendable and has brought happiness among the legal community.
