Boudh, Jan, 03: Construction workers at various places in Boudh district are being cheated of money at different times. It is alleged that middlemen are looting money from workers on the pretext of getting construction worker cards made or providing employer certificates.

Today, the Labour Department carried out an awareness drive in this regard at various construction sites under Boudh Block in Boudh district. The In-Charge District Labour Officer, Boudh, Ms. Kanya Kumari Sahu, visited several under-construction work sites in areas such as Jagati, Girasinga, and Murmundi under Boudh Block.

She informed the workers engaged in construction work about the Construction Workers’ Welfare Scheme. Similarly, for workers who are employed, employer certificates were provided for registration under the Odisha Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board.

She made the workers aware that for construction worker registration a fee of ₹20 and an annual contribution of ₹50 are to be submitted through the SAKALA online portal or the Shramik Sathi mobile app.

The workers were also advised that if they face any problems related to construction worker registration, annual contributions, or receiving benefits, they should not be tempted by middlemen and instead directly contact the Labour Officer’s office.
