Malkangiri, 26th Aug 2025: An awareness programme on Parthenium (commonly known as Gajarghas) eradication was organized on Friday by the Malkangiri District Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK). On this occasion, Senior Scientist of KVK Dr. Debiprasad Das and Horticulture Scientist Dr. Siddharth Kar visited Ramakrishna High School, MV-9 and Mundaguda Upper Primary School under Malkangiri Sadar Block, where they sensitized students about the menace of Parthenium weed.
In particular, they discussed the damages and harmful effects caused by Parthenium, along with the different methods for its eradication. The session covered mechanical, chemical, and biological control measures as effective strategies to manage this invasive weed. Teachers, students, and staff were present at the programme.
