Nabarangpur, Dec, 30: On the first day of the 71st State Athletics Meet – 2025, organized under the auspices of the State Sports Association at Barabati, Cuttack, athletes from Nabarangpur district won a total of five medals, bringing pride to the district.
In the under-16 girls’ category javelin throw, Kuni Rajgond won the gold medal.
In the under-14 boys’ triathlon, Baikuntha Bhatra won the gold medal.
In the under-20 girls’ javelin throw, Smita Pangi won the silver medal.
In the under-18 girls’ javelin throw, Subhadra Jerari won the bronze medal.
In the under-20 boys’ 5000-meter race, Pawan Kumar Yadav won the silver medal.
After this news was released, the District Sports Association editor Prahallad Tripathy, vice president M. Balakrishna Rao, co-editor Manoj Kumar Pattnayak, cricket editor Ashok Nayak, and all members and officials of the sports association extended their best wishes to the athletes.
It is noteworthy that the tournament had participation from 44 male and 20 female athletes. The teams were managed by Durjya Harijan, with Sapan Bairagi serving as the coach.
