Nabarangpur, Jan, 10: On the first day of the 71st State Athletic Meet-2025, held at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack under the auspices of the State Sports Association, athletes from Nabarangpur district won a total of five medals.
In the under-16 girls’ category javelin throw, Kuni Rajganda won the gold medal. In the under-14 boys’ triathlon competition, Baikuntha Bhattara won a gold medal.
Meanwhile, in the under-20 girls’ javelin throw, Sthita Pangi won the silver medal, and in the under-18 girls’ javelin throw, Subhadra Jerari won the bronze medal. In the under-20 boys’ 5000-meter race, Pawan Kumar Yadav won the silver medal.
After the news of their wins spread, the district sports association officials, including editor Prahlad Tripathy, vice-president M. Balakrishna Rao, co-editor Manoj Naj Kumar Pattnaik, cricket editor Ashok Nayak, along with other members and staff of the district sports association, congratulated the athletes.
It is reported that a total of 44 boys and 20 girls from the district participated in the state athletic meet. The team was managed by Durjya Harijan, with Sapan Bairagi serving as coach.
