Nandapur: The Kumudaput–Pangiput road, connecting villages like Tangulupat and Mariput, has turned into a death trap, making it extremely difficult for people to commute. During the rainy season, the muddy road becomes slippery and dangerous, and it’s common to see two- and three-wheelers getting stuck in slush.
Despite repeated requests from villagers of Bilaput Panchayat to the block administration to convert the road into a concrete one, no action has yet been taken.
This road, which falls under Kakua Ward No. 5 of Nandapur Block, becomes nearly impassable during low-pressure-induced continuous rainfall. Villagers have expressed their frustration, calling the road a hazard.
In response to the complaints, Nandapur Block Assistant Executive Engineer Jhasaketan Behera stated that the block administration has already forwarded a proposal to the Rural Development (RD) Department to include this road in the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) for concrete construction.
When asked, Sunabeda RD Division Engineer Jayanta Kumar Sahu confirmed that the survey of the road has been completed, and a proposal has been sent to the State Government’s Panchayati Raj Department for approval. Construction will begin once approval is granted.
Residents of Kumudaput, Tangulupat, Mariput, and Pangiput have appealed to the government to prioritize this road project, as it is the only connecting route for their villages. Currently, rainwater accumulation and mud have made the road treacherous and nearly unusable.
