Bhubaneswar:  Kumari Puja was conducted at the Maa Khanduali Budhi Thakurani Pitha in Sahidnagar. Young girls, ranging from 2 to 10 years old, participated in the ceremony. The event began with the washing of the feet of the young girls, who were then adorned in the attire of the goddess. The girls were worshipped with devotion using offerings of water, arghya, incense, kumkum, and the best of offerings.

The worship of the “Kumari” (young goddess) is believed to remove sorrow and poverty, destroy enemies, and bring prosperity and health. Through the worship of the “Trimurti” (three goddesses), the fulfillment of desires related to religion, wealth, and pleasure is achieved. This worship is also said to attract wealth and ensure the growth of descendants.

The “Kalika” goddess is worshipped for the destruction of enemies, while the “Chandika” goddess is prayed to for the acquisition of wealth and prosperity. The “Shambhavi” goddess is worshipped to remove obstacles, achieve victory in battles, and bring peace in the afterlife. “Durga” is worshipped to destroy fierce enemies and for spiritual success.

For the achievement of one’s desires and health, the “Subhadra” goddess is worshipped, and “Rohini” is prayed to for the elimination of diseases. In this way, worshippers seek divine blessings for success in their lives.

This ceremony was conducted under the leadership of Dr. Narayan Mahapatra. The revered saints and dignitaries, including Mahant Gamakrishna Das Maharaj, Radha Vallabh Math Puri, Krushna Premananda Saraswati Prabhakar Mallik, Niranjan Das, Vaikuntha Mahapatra, Arjuna Mangaraj (President of Maa Khanduali Temple), and Sudhanshu Tripathy (Editor), were present to bless the Kumari girls.

The event was also attended by Suresh Chandra Mishra, Trilochan Nayak, Bansidhar Nayak, Bhagaban Dash, Ranjan Samal, Akshay Sahu, Niranjan Panda, Sharata Mahajatra, Pramendina Panda, and Srinivas Rao, who helped organize and manage the event. After the ceremony, bhajans were sung, and a spiritual discourse was delivered by Swamiji from Bhagavat Mahapurana. The Adishakti Charitable Trust India, Odisha, under the leadership of editor Umnath Mishra, provided assistance in the event’s organization.
