Kotpad, Dec, 15: A four-day National Kickboxing Championship was held in Bhubaneswar. The competition, organized from December 4 to December 7, saw participation from around 600 players from 16 states including Odisha, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, West Bengal, Goa, Karnataka, and Nagaland.
In the 75 kg Low Kick Boxing category, Sairaj Patnaik of Kotpad defeated his opponent from Kerala to win the gold medal. His achievement has brought pride and honor to both the district and the state.
Sairaj Patnaik is the son of science teacher Bijayanand Patnaik. Following his success, he has received a flood of congratulatory messages from various quarters.
Those who congratulated him include Kotpad MLA Rupu Bhatra, former minister Padmini Dian, former MLA Chandra Sekhar Majhi, NAC Chairman Shankar Rao, Block Chairperson Kamala Bhatra, Vice-Chairperson Tapan Panigrahi, Press Club President Pankaj Kumar Patra, Pradeep Bakshi, and Ganesh Chandra Panda, President of Gopabandhu Pathagara, along with many other organizations.
In recognition of this remarkable achievement, a request has been made to the District Collector and the District Festival Committee to honor him during this year’s district festival.
