Kotpad, 1st Sept 2025: A cleanliness drive was organized by the Kotpad Notified Area Council (NAC) office with the objective of making Kotpad city clean and plastic-free. The event was inaugurated by Kotpad NAC Chairman M. Shankar Rao, who hoisted the green flag. The drive concluded at the Maa Brahmandei temple, located at the outskirts of the city.
In today’s busy society, the use of plastic sticks and polythene has been increasing day by day, leading to severe environmental and climatic impacts. Despite various awareness campaigns by the administration urging the public not to use polythene, people have been reluctant to understand its harmful effects. The use of polythene is rampant in hotels, commercial establishments, and other sectors.
To combat this issue, the Kotpad Notified Area Council organized a public awareness drive to make the region polythene-free. The primary goal of this event, as expressed by the council’s Executive Officer Kamlesh Mohanty and prominent intellectuals, was to eliminate the use of polythene. The event was attended by NAC Chairman M. Shankar Rao, MP Minu Rath, social worker Ganesh Chandra Panda, Kotpad Bar Association President Mani Patnaik, along with various intellectuals, students, and notable individuals.
During the drive, the winners of the competition were honored: the first prize went to Basanta Pujari, the second prize to Kabiraj Majhi, and the third prize to Arjun Bhattara. All the successful participants will be felicitated in a special event organized on National Governance Day.
The entire team at the office contributed wholeheartedly to the success of the program.
