Kotpad: Kotpad MLA Rupu Bhatra has targeted the BJD in the state assembly over its disorganized functioning. He accused the party of turning government employees into corrupt individuals engaged in misappropriation, forgetting the real purpose of development. He also alleged that BJD has diminished the sanctity of the assembly and that such actions cannot be forgiven.
Bhatra criticized the ruling party, stating that after ruling for many years, it focused more on looting the state rather than developmental work. As a new MLA, he expected senior legislators to guide newcomers on essential governance matters, but instead, they were creating unrest, which he strongly condemned.
According to him, due to such behavior, Odisha’s people rejected the BJD in the 2024 general elections, opening a new chapter for the state. Coming from a humble tribal background, he expressed gratitude for the people’s full support and promised to work for the development of the region.
Targeting BJD in the Assembly
In the state assembly, Kotpad MLA Rupu Bhatra emphasized his commitment to regional development. He criticized both Congress and BJD, accusing them of using tribal votes for political gains without truly caring for their welfare. He alleged that for decades, these parties focused more on exploiting tribals for votes rather than improving their living conditions.
Many villages in his constituency still lack electricity and drinking water, despite multiple promises over the past 24 years. Internet services also remain inaccessible in several areas. He claimed that the double-engine government’s vision for a developed Odisha was being actively obstructed in the assembly.
Concluding his statement, he assured the people, “We will stay here, and so will you, but by 2036, we will build a prosperous Odisha.”
