Kotpad: The Kotpad Lawyers’ Association has written to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting a posthumous Padma Shri award for the late Satyanarayan Adhikari, a distinguished lawyer from Koraput district and the creator and singer of Koraputia Desia songs.
Satyanarayan Adhikari was not only a skilled lawyer but also an accomplished artist. As an approved artist of All India Radio (Akashvani) Jeypore, he mesmerized audiences with his soulful singing. He was the first to produce a Koraputia Desia song cassette, titled “Baliful”, which included popular songs like “Bihari Pani,” “Musake Mar,” and “Chi Chi Chi Re Noni Chi”. These songs gained immense popularity in the district and state, and over time, they became famous worldwide. The song “Chi Chi Chi Re Noni” has recently gone viral, further increasing his recognition.
Given his remarkable contributions to both the legal profession and cultural heritage, the Lawyers’ Association of Kotpad has unanimously demanded that he be honored with a posthumous Padma Shri award.
The request was officially submitted by association members, including President Pankaj Kumar Patra, Vice President Pradeep Bakshi, Secretary Shankar Panda, Joint Secretary Mukteshwar Nayak, Treasurer Durga Prasanna Sahu, and senior lawyers Mani Pattnaik, Jitendra Mahapatra, Kishore Mishra, Balakrishna Bishoi, and Gupta Behera.
