Kotpad, 7th Oct 2025:  Kotpad town is surrounded by problems, with no clear intention or willpower to solve them. Citizens are left wondering who to report to, as departmental officers turn a deaf ear to complaints — they listen from one ear and let it out the other. No issue is taken seriously, while the townspeople continue to suffer.

At times, hundreds of cattle lie on the National Highway causing traffic jams for hours. At other times, arbitrary and inefficient functioning of the Notified Area Council (NAC) office forces local residents to endure various hardships.

One glaring example is how, despite the lack of space for vehicle parking on either side of the National Highway, the NAC granted NOC (No Objection Certificate) to three national banks and a mall situated in that congested stretch. This clearly points to internal corruption and favoritism within the NAC office.

Due to such decisions, the highway remains jammed every minute, leading to frequent accidents — some even fatal — yet the administration continues to turn a blind eye.

Moreover, several unscrupulous individuals have constructed shop buildings and rented them out for commercial use. However, these rental properties lack basic emergency facilities like restrooms or toilets, putting business owners in significant difficulty.

The NAC office has deliberately ignored these issues. According to regulations, anyone constructing multiple shop units for rent within the town must build a community sanitation facility. But this rule is being knowingly violated, and some business owners have openly criticized the NAC in the media, alleging that it’s fully aware of these violations but chooses to look the other way.

Allegations have also surfaced that some officials of the NAC office are colluding with property owners for personal gain — described by some as a “honeymoon” relationship — leading to the neglect of genuine business concerns.

Now the question remains: will the authorities take action after this report is published, or will they continue their silence and negligence, leaving the residents and traders of Kotpad to suffer as before?
