Koraput: Six new ambulance vehicles were inaugurated for six health centers in Koraput district. The event took place at the Local Skill Development Training Center in the presence of local representatives, including Jaypur MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati, Koraput MLA Raghuram Mach, Laxmipur MLA Pabitra Saunta, Kotpad MLA Rupu Bhatra, District Collector V. Kirti Vasam, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Sasmita Meleka, Vice-Chairperson Radha Binod Samantaray, Koraput MP’s Representative Manoj Acharya, Patangi MLA’s Representative Rupak Turuk, District Chief Medical and Public Health Officer Dr. Baroda Kant Mishra, Health Mission Project Director Shubhkant Gantayat, District Planning and Monitoring Officer Surjyakant Behera, District Development Officer and Executive Officer Benudhar Shabar, along with Nalco officials.
The ambulances were procured through CSR funding from Nalco and the old DMF (District Mineral Foundation) fund. The ambulances will be distributed to the health centers in Nandapur, Kunduli, Bandhugan, Narayanapatna, Lamataput, and Kundura as announced by the District Collector.
In addition, the “JanmaShree” mobile application was launched for monitoring the health of pregnant women in the district. The District Collector stated that free ultrasound examinations would be provided to every pregnant woman through this initiative. He further mentioned that the necessary machines would be purchased for all health centers.
For pregnant women to visit the health centers, a transport system will be arranged, and the details will be communicated through A.N.M (Auxiliary Nurse Midwife) workers. This initiative aims to reduce maternal and infant mortality in the district, said the District Collector, describing it as an important step towards improving maternal and child health.
