Jeypore, Jan 30: The Koraput Café, located near the District Labour Office, will soon become operational. Discussions have already been held with local coffee vendors of Koraput regarding its management. The Municipality informed today that the café will start functioning once the remaining work is completed.

It may be noted that the land near the District Labour Office is government property, which had earlier been encroached upon by some individuals. After evicting the encroachment, the Municipality planned to establish the Koraput Café at the site. In the first phase, the land was leveled, and a boundary wall was constructed for security purposes. Paver blocks were laid inside the premises as well as outside the boundary wall.

After completion of this work, two iron containers were placed at the site. An amount of ₹19 lakh was spent on civil works and ₹9 lakh on the containers. A toilet has also been constructed for the convenience of customers and the general public visiting the café.
However, even though the work was completed more than two years ago, the café has not yet been made operational despite repeated discussions in municipal meetings. Meanwhile, some materials kept inside the containers have reportedly been stolen.
