Kolnara Residents in Panic After Over 10 Injured in Dog Attacks

Kolnara, 12th Sept 2025: In recent days, the number of stray dogs in the Kolnara block headquarters area has increased significantly. While earlier these dogs used to roam around without causing much harm, the situation has changed drastically.

In the past two days alone, a stray dog has allegedly bitten more than 10 people in areas like Pipili Sahi, Brahmana Sahi, Dhipa Sahi, and Adivasi Sahi. All the injured individuals received treatment at the local Community Health Center, while those with more serious injuries were referred to Brahmapur for further medical care.

The incidents have triggered fear and panic in the locality. Villagers have started moving around carrying sticks, and children are being restricted from going outside due to safety concerns.

The dog is not only attacking humans but is also reportedly biting goats, other stray dogs, and even cattle. This has worsened the fear in the community.

In response to the situation, discussions have begun with the Kolnara veterinary officer regarding possible solutions. Authorities have urged residents to stay vigilant and be cautious around aggressive dogs.

Experts suggest that vaccination (anti-rabies) of stray dogs can help control the spread of disease caused by dog bites. However, this effort requires active cooperation from local residents and volunteers, said the official.
