Raighar: Tension erupted on Tuesday at Khutugaon Upper Primary School in Raighar block of Nabarangpur district over the transfer of teacher Rajesh Kumar Behera. Demanding the cancellation of his transfer, students and parents locked the school gate and staged a protest.

Block President Guptaprasad Jha tried to pacify the protesters and informed the Block Education Officer (BEO) Ishwar Majhi about the situation over the phone. Following the cancellation of the transfer order, the protestors unlocked the school gate and withdrew their protest.

Villagers, parents, and students gathered at the school entrance, demanding the cancellation of Rajesh Kumar Behera’s transfer. The BEO had earlier transferred him from Khutugaon to Baraguda School under Gona Panchayat.

On Monday, when students did not see Rajesh Sir at school, they asked other teachers about his absence. Upon learning about his transfer, they informed their parents. The next morning, before the school opened, parents and students arrived, locked the main gate, and staged a sit-in protest.

Rajesh Kumar Behera was known for his excellent teaching and dedication to the students. Concerned about the impact of his transfer, parents demanded its cancellation.

Raighar Block President Guptaprasad Jha reached the spot and discussed the matter with the protesters. He then informed BEO Ishwar Majhi, who immediately issued an official letter through CRCC Dilip Basantia, canceling the transfer. Upon receiving confirmation of the cancellation, villagers, parents, and students ended their protest.
