Khordha: A review meeting on the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana was held on Thursday in the conference hall of the District Collector’s office. The meeting was presided over by the in-charge District Collector and Additional District Collector, Saphalya Mandita Pradhan. The purpose of the meeting was to nominate a model “Surya Ghar” village in the district under the scheme.
Officials from various departments and committee members participated in the discussion. Chairperson of the Zilla Parishad, Rupashree Rani Guman Singh, and Vice-Chairperson Gopinath Maharana attended the meeting, along with TPCL Executive Engineer Ashok Choudhury, who presented a detailed blueprint of the scheme.
Zilla Parishad Chairperson Rupashree Rani Guman Singh emphasized the need for extensive publicity of the scheme, starting from rural areas to urban regions. She stated that if people are fully informed about the scheme, its implementation process will become easier.
Vice-Chairperson Gopinath Maharana added that to make the public aware, door-to-door awareness campaigns and distribution of brochures are essential.
Additional District Collector Mr. Pradhan highlighted that all implementation departments—such as Health, Social Welfare, and Agriculture—should distribute informative leaflets about the scheme at the grassroots level through Anganwadi workers, health workers, and Krushak Sathis (farmer facilitators). The Collector had already instructed the concerned departmental officers in this regard.
He also directed the BDOs to take a leading role in this effort. Furthermore, the Lead Bank Manager and all other banks were instructed to disseminate information regarding financial assistance available under the scheme. The District Collector stressed that elected representatives at the Panchayat level must also actively cooperate to ensure the success of the program.
Executive Engineer P.K. Das of TPCODL gave a presentation explaining the online application process using the “Pakhara Point” tool.
The Collector instructed all committee members and the TPCODL head to ensure the scheme becomes operational within 60 days.
The meeting was attended by Panchayat Samiti Chairpersons from various blocks, department heads, and committee members.
