K. Nuagaon –8th Oct 2025:  A senior artists’ convention was held today at the Block Meeting Hall in K. Nuagaon block of Kandhamal district, organized by the K. Nuagaon Artists’ Cultural Association, Sarangagarh.

The meeting was presided over by Trinath Panda, the association president. The program was inaugurated by the chief guest, Subash Chandra Sahu, General Secretary of the All Odisha Senior Artists’ Association, who addressed the gathering.

In his speech, he emphasized that artists are currently being neglected, and only through unity and organization can both art and artists achieve progress and recognition. He urged all attending artists to stay united for their collective development.

Other office bearers of the association also participated in the event and took part in various organizational discussions. They collectively decided on the future course of action, including submitting an eight-point charter of demands to the Chief Minister through the District Collector.

Some of the key demands include:

  • Increase in artist pensions
  • Providing stipends to new artists
  • Engaging artists in public awareness programs
  • Construction of Bhagabat Tungi (cultural centers)
  • Providing insurance for artists
  • Among the honored guests on stage were:
  • Ravindra Pradhan, Vice-President of the Block Artists’ Association
  • Shabar Patra, Executive President

Sannyasi Bagh, Pradeep Kumar Sahu, Bhanjadeo Patra, Kesharu Mallik, Chitrasen Pradhan, Karunakar Nayak, and others.

The event concluded with Sanatan Gouda, a senior office bearer, delivering the vote of thanks to all attendees.
