Kamara Belgaon Bridge Collapses in Nandapur

Nandpur, 18th Sept 2025: A section of the Kamara Belgaon bridge on the Geruput-Saunipujariput RD road in Malibelgaon Panchayat, Nandpur block of Koraput district, collapsed on Wednesday. It is believed that continuous heavy rains and strong water currents eroded the soil beneath the bridge, weakening its foundation and causing the collapse.

This bridge serves as a major route connecting Malibelgaon Panchayat and Machakund station. Local people have urged the concerned authorities to immediately inspect and repair the damaged bridge and road.

People were worried after witnessing the bridge collapse early in the morning. The Panchayat administration has been informed about the situation. Sarpanch Prahallad Muduli, committee member Manglu Khara, and PI Subas Panda visited the site to inspect the bridge and informed the Nandpur BDO.

The Sunabeda RD department officials have instructed engineer Manasi Dakua to inspect the damaged bridge and submit a report to the senior engineer. After receiving the report, necessary reconstruction work will be undertaken, officials said.
