Malkangiri, Jan, 17: A three-day district-level Junior Red Cross (JRC) camp was inaugurated at Kalimela High School in Malkangiri district. The objective of the camp is to develop leadership qualities, coordination, and a sense of social responsibility among students.
The inaugural ceremony was held under the chairmanship of District Education Officer Chittaranjan Panigrahi. Malkangiri MLA Narsingh Madkami attended the event as the chief guest and addressed the gathering. Other dignitaries present on the dais included Block Chairperson Subhashini Sodi, former MLA Mukunda Sodi, Kalimela Block Development Officer Pradeep Kumar Kar, former YRC Officer Dr. Ranjan Kumar Swain, and Block Education Officer Ramesh Baroi.
Around 400 students from various schools across 111 Gram Panchayats of the district are participating in the camp. The successful organization of the camp was supported by Additional District Education Officer Bhagirathi Behera, In-charge Physical Education Teacher Karvik Chandra Behera, Niranjan Maharana (JRC Officer, Malkangiri), Pramod Baroi, Headmaster, along with the teachers and staff of the school.
During the three-day camp, students will receive training on first aid, blood donation awareness, disaster management, environmental conservation, voluntary labour (Shramdaan), health, and cleanliness, among other important topics.
