Bandhabahal, 20th Nov 2025:  A joint public grievance hearing camp was organized at the Bandhabahal Gram Panchayat Office under Lakhnapur Block, Jharsuguda, as reported by Utkal Samal. The camp was held under the chairmanship of District Collector Motiram Bahnan. Present at the camp were:

Additional Sub-Divisional Magistrate Victoria Eka

Community Development Officer Binay Patel

Tahsildar Prasanna Patel

District Chief Medical & Public Health Officer

Other district and block-level officials

During the camp, 40 grievances were received, including 20 collective grievances and 20 individual grievances.

Key Issues Discussed

1. Infrastructure & Roads

Upgradation of roads near the temple in Telenpali village

Concrete paving of the Kali Mandir road connecting the main road in Basupali village

Road widening and drainage arrangements near Bandhabahal Filter Plant and OPGC main road

Construction of new roads to remove illegal encroachments from Bandhabahal to Karpabahahal main road

Road marking, removal of encroachments, and installation of street lighting

2. Agriculture & Compensation

Compensation for paddy cultivation provided by OPGC

Equal distribution of land in Pattadantan

Providing land to the landless

Relocation of 11 kV electric poles and wires over cultivable land

3. Water & Utilities

Provision of drinking water via tankers in Sarandamal

Drainage and water outlet improvement

Assistance to displaced people from Hirakud River Dam, including 10 decimal land allocation

4. Employment & Welfare

Employment opportunities in mining and local companies

Protest against exploitation of local employees by OPGC and Thika companies

Movement support in Sukhsoda and Kandheikela using Lakshmi buses

5. Other Grievances

Hearing grievances related to displaced families of OPGC

Employment issues for BC/SC communities

The officials were instructed to take immediate steps to resolve grievances after careful review and translation of each complaint for proper action.
