Nabarangapur, 29th Oct 2025: A joint meeting of the Health Department and the District Social Welfare Department was held today at the Ashok Meheta Conference Hall under the chairmanship of District Collector Dr. Maheshwar Swain to discuss better health and nutrition for mothers and children in the district.
The main objective of the meeting was to identify and resolve barriers related to maternal and child health and nutrition through coordinated action plans, thereby improving the overall well-being of mothers and children. It was emphasized that all government-provided benefits should reach the beneficiaries easily and effectively.
Instructions were given to ensure that pregnant women from remote areas are brought safely to “Maa Gruha” (Maternity Waiting Homes) for safe delivery, with the joint efforts of all CDPOs (Child Development Project Officers) and Medical Officers.
The CDMO (Chief District Medical Officer) of Nabarangpur was requested to make arrangements to issue birth certificates for all children aged 0 to 6 years.
Discussions were also held on ensuring medical examination of low birth-weight babies (below 2 kg) within three months, and taking steps to prevent blindness among children.
It was further directed that free medical treatment under this program should be widely communicated to all Anganwadi and ASHA workers, so that they can inform beneficiaries in their respective areas.

The meeting concluded with a collective commitment to strengthen coordination between departments for the improvement of maternal and child health and nutrition across the district.
