Jeypore, 15th Oct 2025:  A long-standing demand of the people of undivided Koraput has finally been fulfilled — for the first time, the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) conducted an examination in the Jeypore zone.

Over a thousand aspirants appeared for the preliminary examination. Students expressed happiness over getting the opportunity to take the exam close to home and thanked the government for making it possible.

18 Centres Opened, Candidates Delighted

Candidates began arriving at their exam centres in the morning. After strict verification, they were allowed to enter.

The first sitting was held from 10 AM to 12 PM.

The second sitting took place from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM.

District Collector Manoj Khall Satyabhan Mahajan, Sub-Collector A. Shasya Reddy, and other senior officials visited and monitored the exam centres. One magistrate was deployed at each centre.

Answer sheets were securely sealed after the exam and placed under tight security, guarded by two platoons of police force. No untoward incidents were reported.

Candidates’ Reactions:

  • Candidates expressed relief that they no longer had to depend on Bhubaneswar or Berhampur to write the OPSC exams.
  • Earlier, they had to travel around 300 km, causing great inconvenience and incurring additional expenses for travel, lodging, and food. Many potential candidates were discouraged due to these difficulties.
  • Over the years, locals had consistently demanded that an OPSC exam centre be established in undivided Koraput. The Commission respected these public demands and has now set up the centre, which has brought great satisfaction to the region.
  • Jeypore Becomes the 6th OPSC Zone

It is worth noting that Jeypore is now the sixth official OPSC zone, following:

  • Bhubaneswar
  • Cuttack
  • Berhampur
  • Balasore
  • Sambalpur

In January of this year, the Commission had decided to establish a new exam zone in Jeypore, which is now operational.
