Jeypore Boosts Cleanliness Drive with 15 New Auto Tippers

Jeypore: In an effort to further improve the city’s sanitation system, the municipal administration has taken key steps. A total of 15 new auto tippers have been deployed for garbage transportation. Additionally, 90 plastic drums have been distributed for collecting dry and wet waste separately. These vehicles have been assigned across various wards to carry waste from the neighborhoods to the MCC (Micro Compost Center).

Municipal Executive Officer and Sub-Collector A. Sashya Reddy informed that the vehicles will be equipped with mic and GPS systems.

A few days ago, the new auto tippers had arrived at the municipal office. Today, they were officially deployed for service. Each vehicle is equipped with six labeled plastic drums—three orange ones for dry waste and three green or blue ones for wet waste.

Municipal workers have been instructed accordingly. Although most households are not yet segregating waste, the sanitation staff have been raising awareness among them. People are being requested to avoid dumping garbage in drains since waste is being collected directly from doorsteps. The supplying agency provided 90 used drums, which has drawn criticism.

Intellectuals have expressed dissatisfaction, questioning whose interest was served by supplying used drums instead of purchasing new ones from the market.

It is worth noting that the municipality already had 10 old auto tippers, and with the addition of 15 new ones, the total now stands at 25. While Wards 10, 11, 12, 13, 27, and 28 have been allotted three tippers, all 22 vehicles are being used to transport garbage from just 22 wards.

Additionally, 8 tractors are being used for drain cleaning, construction debris, and broken materials. Also, 19 Battery Operated Vehicles (BOVs) are currently providing service.
