Intense Sultriness to Grip Coastal Odisha for Next Four Days

Bhubaneswar: Every year, after the onset of the monsoon, a phase of “monsoon break” lasting 10 to 15 days is usually observed. During this period, the weather tends to be either clear or partially cloudy. Currently, such a monsoon break is underway.

Since May 31, monsoon rainfall has decreased across Odisha. As the sky remains mostly clear, temperatures are gradually rising. This condition is expected to persist until the Raja festival, after which the monsoon is anticipated to return.

Today, Paralakhemundi recorded the highest temperature in the state at 39.4°C. Along with this, intense sultry conditions are being experienced throughout the state. Due to the hot and humid environment, coastal Odisha districts are likely to face increased sultriness until June 6.

The Regional Meteorological Centre has issued a yellow warning for districts including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati, predicting intense sultry weather in various areas.

Meanwhile, light to moderate rainfall is likely in some places of Koraput and Malkangiri districts during this four-day period.

In the next 24 hours, Bhubaneswar is expected to experience partly cloudy skies, with maximum temperature around 39°C and minimum around 28°C. Humidity levels will remain high, contributing to the intense sultriness.
