Tentulikhunti, Nabarangpur: Security personnel working under the Indravati Project in Nabarangpur district had given a seven-day ultimatum to the project administration for the payment of their pending salaries for the past six months. As the deadline passed without payment, the security personnel union staged a protest in front of the Indravati Project administrative office on Tuesday.
Following a written assurance from the authorities, the protest has been temporarily suspended until the 12th of this month. According to sources, after not receiving their salaries for six months, the security personnel union had already given a one-day ultimatum to the project administration through a press conference on the 25th of last month. Since the issue remained unresolved, hundreds of security personnel marched in a rally from the local Tarini Temple Square to the project administration building and staged a sit-in protest at the office premises.
After approximately five hours of protest, Additional Chief Construction Engineer Naresh Kumar Patra, along with SDO S.K. Das, Executive Engineer of Podagada Dam Division Janardhan Tahasildar, and Mechanical Executive Engineer Neeraj Kumar, engaged in discussions with the protesting security personnel. Since the workers remained firm on their demand, all agencies involved were called for a meeting on the 12th to resolve the issue.
Upon receiving a written assurance of a solution, the security personnel have decided to temporarily suspend their protest. The discussion was attended by security personnel, officials, and engineers from all relevant departments.
