Indira Wins Silver Medal at Delhi Event

Nabarangpur/18th Sept 2025:  An Adivasi girl from a remote village in Dabugaon block, Nabarangpur district, has made her mark on the national stage in Delhi. Indira Nayak, a final year Arts student of Bhairav College, has achieved success at the All India Level Firing Competition.

In the recently held event organized by the Indian Army in Delhi, Indira participated in the 25-meter range and secured second place, winning the silver medal. Her achievement has not only brought pride to Nabarangpur district but has also made Odisha proud, said the college principal Shankar Prasad Gantayat.

Speaking on the occasion, Indira said that she didn’t succeed in her first attempt, but managed to succeed in the second attempt. She expressed her dream to join the Defence Department in the future and serve the nation.

Indira hails from Dangriguda village in Dabugaon. Her father, Dilip Nayak, works as a driver, and her mother is Rutula Nayak.

After returning to her village from Delhi, Bhairav College organized a grand felicitation ceremony in her honor. College Chairman Mr. Gantayat, along with faculty members, staff, and students, congratulated her for her achievement.

This success was made possible after coordination with Kedarnath Pradhan, Second Commandant of NCC 13th Battalion in Nabarangpur. Indira’s journey began with a win at the regional competition in Sambalpur, which led her to the national competition held in Delhi from 10th to 12th September.

Out of participants from 29 states and 17 NCC Directorates across India, Indira stood out by securing the silver medal, leaving many competitors behind.
