India’s Population to Hit 1.46 Billion by End of 2025: UN Report

Bhubaneswar: India is now recognized as the most populous country in the world.  The country’s total fertility rate has now fallen below the ‘replacement level’.  India’s current fertility rate has declined to 1.9.  Women are now giving birth to fewer children than required for population replacement. Improvements in healthcare and increased literacy rates have contributed to the decline in fertility. If this trend continues, it could pose a concerning situation for the country in the future.
