Khordha Jan, 06: A significant meeting of the Odisha Primary Teachers’ Association was held at the premises of Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir, Kharavel Nagar, Bhubaneswar. Under the leadership of Ramlal Patel, the convener, all members of the steering committee participated in this important meeting.
In the meeting, the steering committee gave priority to the opinions of all its members, and the following proposals were unanimously approved: A major agitation had been conducted from December 5 to December 9. During the meeting, the government’s stance on the matter was also presented by the convener. At different times, steering committee members had discussions with government-level departmental officers. They shared their views and also provided detailed plans for upcoming actions.
For the second week of the new year, the following two main demands will be pursued:
Upgrading the primary teachers’ basic positions to Level-9 with a basic salary of Rs35,400.
Regularization of service tenure: All teachers who have been working continuously since 2001 in primary education will have their service counted as regular employment, along with the provision of notional increments.
It was decided that a follow-up program under the leadership of Ramlal will continue until January 10. According to the decisions of district officials from all districts, five senior officials from each district will participate in a major meeting on January 11 in Bhubaneswar, along with all conveners and members of the state steering committee.
