Sambalpur:March, 16: Following the demise of Sambalpur’s beloved “Doctor Maa” and former MLA, Raseshwari Panigrahi, her last rites were performed today at Rajghat in Sambalpur. Amid a deeply mournful atmosphere, thousands of city residents gathered to bid her a final farewell.
City Resonates During Funeral Procession
A massive funeral procession was held during her final journey. The air of Sambalpur echoed with devotional chants, including “Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram” and slogans of “Ram Naam Satya Hai.” Supporters and well-wishers paid tribute to their beloved leader with chants of “Raseshwari Panigrahi Amar Rahe” (Long live Raseshwari Panigrahi).
Cremation Amid Vedic Rituals
Following the rituals of Arya Samaj, Vedic mantras were recited before the ceremonial lighting of the funeral pyre. The final rites (mukhagni) were performed by Swaroop Panigrahi, son of her elder brother Bhagirathi Panigrahi, and her son Debashish Mishra.

Several prominent political leaders and distinguished personalities from various parties were present at the funeral, including:

- Former MLA Rohit Pujari
- MLA Nauri Nayak
- In addition, many intellectuals, doctors, and journalists from the city attended the ceremony.
