Hinjilicut, 11th Nov 2025: On the occasion of Chadakhai, an unmanageable rush was witnessed today at the Hinjilicut fish market. People who had abstained from eating non-vegetarian food throughout the holy Kartik month gathered in large numbers in front of meat and fish shops to enjoy non-veg delicacies for the first time after the fasting period.

Although Chadakhai was observed yesterday, sales in the meat market had remained slow because it coincided with Margashira Thursday, a day considered sacred. However, being Friday today, there was a heavy rush since morning in front of fish, meat, and chicken stalls in the Hinjilicut non-veg market.

Given the high demand for mutton, traders had stocked up goats in advance in their stockyards. To meet the customers’ demand, the market was also well supplied with chicken, fish, prawns, and crabs in sufficient quantities.

Prices in the market were as follows: mutton at ₹850 per kg, chicken at ₹200 per kg, country chicken at ₹500 per kg, and bhekur and rohu fish at ₹200 per kg, according to reports.
