Malkangiri, Jan 27: Principal Secretary of the Housing & Urban Development, Commerce and Transport Departments, Usha Padhee, paid a day-long visit to Malkangiri district and reviewed various developmental projects.
At the District Parishad conference hall, Ms. Padhee conducted a detailed review of the progress of projects under the Housing & Urban Development and Commerce & Transport Departments. She inquired about the challenges faced by the departments and held discussions with officials.
Upon her arrival in the district, she first visited Govindpalli to review the condition of the bus stand. She then inspected the newly constructed bus stand at Mathili. After reaching Malkangiri town, she visited the Regional Transport Office (RTO) and discussed existing issues with the officials.
She also inspected the newly constructed building of the Malkangiri Municipality. At the compost centre operating under the Swachh Bharat Mission in the MV-42 settlement, she interacted with sanitation workers. She held detailed discussions regarding the problems faced by the sanitation staff and explored ways to improve their livelihood and living conditions.
The Principal Secretary also visited the BB Guda tank located in front of the Collector’s office and reviewed the water conservation project. Municipal officials informed her that ₹2 crore would be required for the project. She directed them to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) immediately and submit it to the Housing & Urban Development Department, assuring that funds would be sanctioned.
She further inspected the progress of the ongoing bus stand construction in the town. During her visit to the Aahar Centre near the bus stand, she interacted with the public. She also inspected the airstrip and held detailed discussions with engineers of the Roads & Buildings Department regarding its current condition and existing issues, emphasizing the need to make the airstrip operational at the earliest.
Finally, she visited the model crematorium managed by the municipality and reviewed its maintenance.
