Kotpad 21st January 2025 Hemu Kalani was a revolutionary and freedom fighter of India. In 1942, he received secret information that a train carrying weapons for the British army would pass through the city of Rohri. Hemu Kalani, along with his companions, planned to sabotage the railway tracks. They carried out their activities in utmost secrecy, but the policemen stationed there noticed them. Hemu Kalani was arrested, while his companions managed to escape. Hemu Kalani was sentenced to death by the court.
At that time, prominent people of Sindh filed a petition and appealed to the Viceroy to revoke his death sentence. The Viceroy agreed on the condition that Hemu Kalani would reveal the names and whereabouts of his companions. However, Hemu Kalani refused to accept this condition.
On January 21, 1943, he was executed. When asked about his last wish before the execution, he expressed his desire to be reborn in India. With the slogans “Inquilab Zindabad” (Long live the revolution) and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” (Hail Mother India), he embraced the gallows.
