Chandahandi, : The holy month of Ramadan has begun for Muslim devotees from today. On Saturday evening, after sighting the moon, Muslims extended greetings to each other and started observing the sacred month. Following the moon sighting, people gathered at Mohra Mosque to offer congregational prayers (Namaz).
On this occasion, Sultan Ali, President of Mohra Muslim Committee, and Mohammad Jina, President of Beheramunda Muslim Committee, conveyed their greetings and blessings to all Muslim brothers for the month of Ramadan.
Ramadan holds special significance in Islam as it is believed to be the month during which the Holy Quran was revealed. As part of their religious observance, Muslims fast daily from sunrise to sunset without food or water. They offer evening prayers (Namaz) and special Taraweeh prayers at night.
Additionally, Islamic tradition mandates that Muslims donate 2.5% of their earnings (Zakat) to charity during this month. This year, Hafiz Soheb Raja has arrived to lead the Taraweeh prayers during Ramadan.
