High-Level Visit: Odisha’s Tourism Secretary Inspects Deomali Hilltop Developments

Pottangi, 17th July 2025: Odisha Tourism Secretary Balwant Singh visited Deomali, the highest peak in Odisha located in Pottangi block. He was accompanied by Koraput District Collector V. Keerthi Vasan and a probationary IAS officer. The team reviewed various ongoing development works at Deomali and assessed the current situation to explore ways to further enhance the area’s tourism potential.

Following the Deomali visit, they went to Matalaamba village, where they inspected the model cowshed built there and interacted with local villagers. The team also visited the disputed Kotia region, where they held discussions with residents of the area.

Later, they visited the scenic Gaaligabda Waterfall and explored its surroundings. Discussions were held regarding planning new strategies to attract more tourists to these natural spots.

As part of the “One Tree for Mother” campaign, a tree was planted at Deomali.
It was understood that the main objective of the visit was to assess how tourism sites in the region can be further developed and promoted.
