Helpline’ Celebrates Annual Festival with Cabinet Minister Nityananda Gond in Attendance

Umerkote: The voluntary organization Helpline, working in Nabarangpur district, celebrated its 34th Annual Festival. The event was graced by Odisha Cabinet Minister Nityananda Gond as the chief guest. He praised the organization’s dedicated work in the district without any government funding in sectors like education, health, sports, tree plantation, road safety, child marriage awareness, honoring meritorious students, supporting higher education, adolescent fairs, and substance abuse prevention—efforts sustained for over 33 years.

The minister congratulated all members of the organization and advised them to continue their noble services in the future as well.

Eminent poet, writer, and literary figure Dr. Pradeep Kumar Mishra, who attended as a keynote speaker, highlighted the organization’s regular initiatives like tree plantation during Van Mahotsav, blood donation camps, eye check-ups, and cataract surgery camps, which have earned Helpline recognition and awards at state, national, and international levels.

The Chief Minister personally called the organization to express his gratitude and urged them to continue and expand their social service efforts, especially in tree plantation.

Other distinguished guests included M. Balakrishna Rao (Vice President of the District Sports Association), Sudhanshu Dash (Vice Chairperson of the Municipality), Ashok Kumar Nayak (Secretary of District Cricket Association), Shashank Behera, Dr. Pankaj Lochan Mishra (former professor), Shantanu Mahapatra, and others who praised the work of the organization.

The event was presided over by President Krushna Prasad Patnaik, while the organization’s Director and social worker Durga Prasad Mallik presented a report and appealed for continued cooperation in social service.

Minister Nityananda Gond, along with other dignitaries, felicitated the guests. The entire event was coordinated by Vice President Eng. Chandana Mallik. During the program, clothes were distributed and women badminton players were honored.

Several new members actively participated, including Ashok Kumar Patra, Hamida Banu, Rakesh Kumar Nayak, Rakesh Sarkar, Satya Saban Das, Anjana Baidya, Swapna Panigrahi, and Sharata Pradhan.

Senior members like retired immunization officer Kusum Nayak, Saikruti Panda, and Ravi Suna also extended their cooperation during the event.
