Bhubaneswar, 9th Oct 2025:  A cyclonic circulation is currently active over the state, resulting in ongoing rainfall across various regions of Odisha. This weather condition is expected to persist for another four days. Northern and coastal regions are likely to receive heavier rainfall, and there is also a chance of thunderstorms and lightning in some places during this period.

Weather expert Professor Surendranath Pasupalak stated that a cyclonic circulation had formed over the Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas on Monday, which is expected to influence the weather until the 9th of October.

Additionally, another cyclonic circulation is likely to form off the Andhra coast in the central-west Bay of Bengal by Wednesday. These two circulations are expected to merge around the 10th or 11th of October, forming a larger system.

As a result, light to moderate rain is expected daily across different parts of the state over the next three days. On October 10th and 11th, light rainfall is likely over southern coastal and adjoining areas, and by October 12th and 13th, light rain may occur in coastal districts like Khordha, Puri, Ganjam, and Gajapati.

Between 7th and 11th October, there is a forecast of thunderstorms with lightning, added Prof. Pasupalak. From the 14th of October, dry weather is expected to prevail across the state.
