Heavy Downpour Throws Life Out of Gear in Keonjhar

Keonjhar, 8th Sept 2025: The district of Keonjhar continues to reel under persistent rainfall, with intermittent heavy showers affecting normal life over the past two days. Though today’s rain was comparatively lighter, constant drizzles and dense clouds have made day-to-day activities difficult across all 13 blocks.

Impact on Life

Flooding concerns have not yet been raised despite heavy rain due to relatively low rainfall in Banspal block (upper catchment of the Baitarani River).

Normal life has been disrupted across urban and rural areas due to continuous rainfall, with residents struggling with waterlogging and poor visibility.

Farming activities and transportation have also been impacted in multiple blocks.

 Baitarani River Safe (For Now)

Though fears of rising water levels in the Baitarani River exist during such rainfall events, current reports suggest no significant threat, as rainfall in upstream areas like Banspal has remained comparatively low.
