Day by day, it has become more dangerous and life-threatening. In the Kashipur block area of Rayagada district, this kind of negligence by the health department has now become a nightmare for the woman involved.
According to reports, the woman is Guni Jholia Parja, wife of Kabichandra Jholia Parja from Khuragaon village. After this incident came to light, she was admitted to Koraput Sahid Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital. Her condition remains critical. Meanwhile, her family is suffering mental trauma due to this incident.
Six months ago, when her health deteriorated, Asha Didi (a local health worker) was contacted. Asha Didi had Guni tested with a pregnancy kit provided by the health department, which revealed that Runi (Guni) was pregnant. Accordingly, on December 27, 2024, Asha Didi referred Runi to Kashipur Community Health Center for health care. Arrangements were made to give injections, vaccines, and other medicines intended for pregnant women under her name. Since then, Guni was regularly treated like a pregnant woman.
With regular visits and support from Asha and Anganwadi workers, local female health workers conducted regular health check-ups. A detailed record of the treatment given was maintained at the bank.
It is also mentioned that Runi had gone for health check-ups at the health center in January, February, and March of this year.
However, later on, Guni began experiencing severe abdominal pain and other complications. Due to unbearable pain, on the 3rd of the month, she went to Rayagada District Headquarters Hospital and consulted doctors. After all examinations and tests, it was discovered that she was not pregnant at all. Instead, she had a tumor in her abdomen, which was growing day by day.
Fearing for her life, Runi was immediately shifted by ambulance to Koraput Sahid Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital for further treatment. So far, the tumor has not been removed. She is currently undergoing treatment there.
Meanwhile, both Runi and her family are mentally distressed and anxious due to this situation. The medical authorities have not yet commented on her current health condition.
