Baipariguda: Harshita Priyadarshini Mohanty, a young woman from Baipariguda, has been honored with the Professor Radhamohan Seed Bank Award.
At the state-level Seed and Food Fair held in Koraput, Harshita Priyadarshini Mohanty — known as the “Seed Girl” — delivered a speech during the program titled Youth in Climate Change and Livelihoods, highlighting the importance of preserving indigenous seeds and ensuring food security in our region, with active participation of the youth.
She shared how, through her initiative Project Harshita, local young women are engaged in cultivating indigenous paddy seeds, aiming to preserve seeds that are on the verge of extinction. She emphasized that through organic farming, today’s youth can transform this effort into a sustainable livelihood and become self-reliant entrepreneurs.
During the event, Harshita Priyadarshini was felicitated by the organization “Pragati” for her outstanding contributions.
