Gundicha Temple to Reopen for Devotees Soon

Puri, 1st Nov 2025: The Gundicha Temple, the birthplace of Lord Jagannath, will open very soon, allowing devotees to have darshan. Safe pathways for circumambulation of the Sri Gundicha Temple will also be available. On Thursday, after inspecting the progress of renovation work inside the temple, Municipal Executive Officer Abhimanyu Behera shared this information. The Chief Administrator of the Sri Mandir, Dr. Arbind Padhi, and District Collector Divyajyoti Parida, along with senior temple officials, visited the temple.

Devotees will be allowed entry from morning until 10 PM. For security, 20 JETP personnel will be deployed. The temple premises will be thoroughly cleaned, all shops and temporary stalls will be removed, and the surrounding area will be fully cleared. Measures have been taken to ensure no further activities will take place in the future in the circumambulation path.

At the temple office, Chief Administrator Dr. Arbind Padhi stated that:

  • The front area of the Gundicha Temple will be beautified, and the other three sides will also be developed.
  • Temporary shops and cabins will be removed.
  • Devotees will be able to perform circumambulation safely.
  • No other activities will be allowed along the circumambulation path in the future.
  • The outer west and south sides will be developed, including beautification work around the ancient Nrusimha Temple on the western side.
  • The entrance pathway will be widened to facilitate devotees.

These improvements aim to enhance both safety and the overall aesthetic experience for pilgrims visiting the Gundicha Temple.
