Chandahandi: A group toilet was constructed four years ago, but due to the lack of a water supply, it has remained non-functional. Despite spending lakhs of rupees on its construction, the toilet has not been put to use, causing difficulties for visitors coming from outside.
The group toilet was built along the roadside. Although the construction was completed, the water supply has not yet been arranged. Chandahandi block headquarters houses a bank, court, tehsil office, and block office, attracting hundreds of people daily from various parts of the block. However, due to the absence of a functional toilet, people face significant inconvenience.
Allegations of Misuse of Funds
Four years ago, the toilet was constructed near Chandahandi Court and Tehsil Office, but it has not been operational since. There are allegations that funds were misappropriated after processing the construction bill, despite the toilet being completely unusable.
Due to lack of maintenance, the toilet pans have broken, and the water tank on the roof has also collapsed. Since its construction, no one has used the facility. Every day, hundreds of men and women visit the Chandahandi headquarters, but due to the lack of a public toilet, they struggle to find a place for sanitation needs.
The problem is even worse for slum dwellers, as the non-functional toilet forces them to resort to open defecation at night. Although the toilet has been built, the lack of water supply has rendered it useless.
Residents have demanded that the Block Development Officer (BDO) take immediate action to make the group toilet functional.
