Jeypore, 18th Sept 2025: Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, during his visit to Koraput district, reviewed the progress of the Raipur–Visakhapatnam Expressway under construction as part of the Bharatmala project. The Raipur–Visakhapatnam Expressway, also known as NH-130 CD, is an economic corridor being developed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The six-lane highway aims to enhance freight6 transport efficiency and boost exports.
The Governor inspected various sections of the expressway near Patangi in Odisha and reviewed the ongoing construction work. Officials from the National Highways Authority and other authorities briefed the Governor on the current status and future timelines of the project.
The expressway starts from Raipur in Chhattisgarh, passes through Odisha’s Nawarangpur and Koraput districts, and reaches Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. The total length of the expressway will be reduced from 590 kilometers to 464 kilometers, cutting down the travel time from 14 hours to just 6 hours. Once completed, the travel time from Koraput to Visakhapatnam will be only two hours.
During the review, Koraput MLA Raghuram Machha, Kotpad MLA Rupu Bhatra, District Collector Manoj Satyawan Mahajan, and representatives from the National Highways Authority were present. After the review, the Governor held discussions with the project officials, employees, and laborers working on the project.
