Governor Impressed with Unique Flavor of Koraput Coffee

Koraput | 10th Sept 2025: Hon’ble Governor of Odisha, Dr. Haribabu Kambhampati, arrived today on a two-day visit to Koraput district. Upon his arrival at Jeypore Airport, he was warmly welcomed by the district administration. Present at the airport were Collector Manoj Satyabhan Mahajan, SP Rohit Verma, and Jeypore Sub-Collector A. Shasya Reddy, among others.

After arriving, the Governor visited the Koraput Coffee Board, where he interacted with coffee growers and stakeholders. He appreciated the fact that Koraput coffee has carved out a distinct identity in global markets, and discussed how coffee cultivation is taking place in 90% of the district, making tribal farmers self-reliant.

He held discussions with officials on strategies to expand the market for Koraput coffee, emphasizing value addition and branding. He toured the Coffee Board premises, observed coffee plants firsthand, and tasted the coffee — expressing deep satisfaction with its flavor and quality.

Later, at Koraput Circuit House, he held a meeting with NALCO officials, discussing the transformation of NALCO from a mining-based to a value-added industry. He sought to understand the current state and future developmental possibilities in the surrounding region.

Following this, he visited Sahid Laxman Nayak Medical College, where he interacted with officials regarding healthcare services and land issues. He emphasized that since the entire undivided Koraput region depends heavily on this medical college, the institution must be strengthened and the best possible healthcare services should be ensured.

The Governor also held a meeting with Kotas (a tribal community), and discussed local issues with Padma Shri awardee Gobardhan Panika and Queen Harshita Priyadarshini Mohanty of Bihan. He further engaged with representatives from the Indian Red Cross Society and other beneficiaries of government schemes.

In the evening, Governor Dr. Haribabu Kambhampati visited the famous Shabar Shrikhetra – Koraput Jagannath Temple, where he performed puja and offered prayers to Lord Jagannath. He then toured the temple premises.

The Governor’s visit highlighted the state’s commitment to promoting tribal enterprise, healthcare, and spiritual tourism in Koraput.
