Jeypore, 13th Sept 2025: A Governing Council meeting was held at the conference hall of the District Headquarters Hospital in Jeypore. The meeting was attended by MP Saptagiri Ulaka, Leader of the Congress Legislative Party and Pottangi MLA Ram Chandra Kadam, Jeypore MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati, Laxmipur MLA Pabitra Sounta, District Collector Manoj Sata, and other senior officials.
After the newly constructed 350-bed District Headquarters Hospital became operational, several issues have emerged. Out of the sanctioned 156 doctor posts, only 48 doctors are currently working. Due to the shortage of doctors, patients are being referred to Koraput or Visakhapatnam. Despite the hospital being overcrowded, the lack of doctors remains a serious concern. MP Saptagiri Ulaka expressed his dissatisfaction over this, especially with doctors frequently referring patients to other medical centers.
Governing Body Response
Jeypore MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati stated that action will be taken against those doctors based on the data provided. He blamed the 24 years of previous government rule for the current state of disarray. Koraput MLA Raghuram Mach added that under the current BJP government, all these issues will gradually be resolved.
