Kolanara, 27th Sept 2025: Gode Toika, a 40-year-old destitute and impoverished widow from Parsikupa village under Katikana Panchayat in Kolanara block, will soon receive a pucca house under the Antyodaya Scheme.
To verify and process her eligibility, Nodal Officer and Rural Housing BPC Kumudini Sahu along with Tagging Officer Santosh Pandu (GRS of Katikana Panchayat) visited Gode’s home in Jharsuguda hamlet. On September 27, she is scheduled to receive the official work order from Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi during a ceremonial event.
Her Struggles
Gode’s husband, Girsaa Toika, passed away in March 2014. Since then, Gode has been struggling alone to raise her two daughters. To support the family, she works in farming on hilly terrain and does various forms of daily labor.
She receives 35 kg of rice every month through her Antyodaya Ration Card. Gode shared that her elder daughter Avanti is studying in Class 8, and the younger daughter Yashoda is in Class 7 at the Katikana Government Upper Primary School.
Acknowledging her vulnerable condition, the block administration recommended her for a house under the Antyodaya Housing Scheme.
