Kotpad, 7th Oct 2025:  In Kotpad of Koraput district, the immersion (visarjan) of Goddess Durga idols from several puja pandals such as Kenduguda, Dulpur Sahi, and Bargad was conducted with much grandeur and celebration.

This year, the use of firecrackers was restricted, a move that has been widely welcomed and appreciated across various intellectual and local circles as a commendable step.

As the ten-day-long Durga Puja festivities came to an end, the immersion ceremony drew large crowds. Thousands of devotees gathered to witness the final farewell of the Goddess. The idols were taken in grand processions around the town, accompanied by music, dance, and traditional performances by folk artists, before being immersed in water.

The administration had made elaborate arrangements for crowd management, deploying a large number of police personnel. Members of the fire services, police department, and all puja committee members were actively present to ensure a smooth and peaceful immersion process. Due to favorable weather today, the immersion was carried out peacefully and in an orderly manner.

However, the scheduled Ravana Dahan (effigy burning of Ravana) event failed to meet expectations and was considered disappointing by spectators.

Kotpad Police Station Officer-in-Charge, Paramananda Sunani, along with the entire police team, coordinated effectively to ensure that no untoward incidents occurred during the immersion.
